Now this is a great idea, currently vehicles over 40 years are elligible, however this would be better if it was a 25 year rolling tax exemption.

However 25 years was on the cards. The Conservatives promised when they came to power car tax exemption would be reduced to 25 yrs, currently it's 40 years, remember too that vehicles made before 1960 are MOT exempt.

There are many reasons for a 25 yr rolling car tax exemption:-

A reason to buy a classic car

More reason to repair a classic vehicle rather than purchase a newer model

Saves you money, money you would have spent VED can be reinvested back into the vehicle 

Allows for later classics to be included in the rolling vehicle excise duty exemption
