INEOS Grenadier M1 First Look & Prototype Off Road

(Reading time: 2 - 4 minutes)

The Grenadier by INEOS - conceived in the United Kingdom, engineered in Austria and built in France.

Right now, it's on tour - and it's aim is to test this 4x4 over multiple terrains and over a million miles in order to prove that this workhorse is capable of anything. One of it's stops was Duncombe Park in North Yorkshire, and Ben got the chance to see the Grenadier up close in it's natural habitat.

During the test day, Ben was able to passenger in one of their prototypes as it was put through its paces off road:

It will be available with the choice of two BMW engines, a diesel and a petrol, both 3 Litre and both 8 speed automatic. The diesel tops the torque, producing 550 Newton meters, with the petrol producing 450.

With just a small variety of trim levels available, what sets the Grenadier apart is how you can make it your own with the myriad accessories available, including a winch, snorkle, safari windows and an exterior ladder. The interior floor mats even have built in drain valves if you opt for the heavy duty option. Honestly, it's quite a lot of fun just playing with the configurator on their website.

All 5 seats are Recaro's, offering lots of comfort as well as style - match this with the wipeable fabric option, and you have a no nonsense utility vehicle that offers stylish practicality. And to clarify, practicality is a key factor in the design of this 4x4, with switches that are designed to be used when your hands are cold and wet, or when you are wearing gloves.

At the moment, the Grenadier is available as a 5 seater station wagon and a 2 seater utility wagon, with plans to follow it up with a 5 seater utility wagon, and a double cab pick up. Some might scoff at the £48,000.00 plus starting price (all prices TBC) but if you are still using your Grenadier as a workhorse 30 years after buying one, you might well end up having the last laugh.

It's right up there, ready to compete with their nearest competitors (as well as some of their higher priced rivals) as it aims to take the place of the discontinued Land Rover Defender.

Kia XCeed Review

(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

The Kia Xceed builds on the fantastic Ceed hatchback, raises it's ride height, adds fastback looks and some funky styling, and there you have it a Kia Ceed SUV.

Our model is a hybrid and in the 3 trim, the powertrain is a combo of a 1.6GDI T engine and an electric motor coupled to a 6 speed DCT, and offers a 3 figure mpg.

Our model costs around £31,000 and offers a SUV with good handling, punchy acceleration and a smooth ride.

Suzuki Ignis Hybrid Review

(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

The Suzuki Ignis a quirky ultra compact SUV, with a lot to love.

We have the SZ5 AllGrip meaning we have the top of the range model with 4x4 and some fancy extras too, one being dual camera brake support.

It's a fun vehicle with a Khaki paint job and accents in black and the roof. It's versatile, practical and relatively well equipped and with the uprated hybrid it's more economical and punchier to even though it has a smaller, engine.

It handles well and power is good, however it can be loud underload, economy wise, Ben couldn't get it belowe 50mpg.

£18,399 on the road, a bargain.

New Peugeot 3008 PHEV Review

(Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes)
The Peugeot 3008 was first showcased mid 2005, and unlike this latest SUV it didn't have what you called a direction, meaning it was part MPV, part car and part SUV.
This latest model was released at the end of 2020, it's powered by a 1.6 engine and an electric motor and it features the latest design language from Peugeot as well as tech, safety and all manner of things.
This model is in the Allure trim and features the new frameless grille and decluttered front as well as other styling additions, it takes a few of it's design queues from the fantastic 508, including LED Lion's tooth daytime running lights and Lion claw rear lenses too.
There are a number of trims to chooses from as well as a number of options including Panoramic, Tow bar even adaptive cruise control.
Whilst driving this Type 2 PHEV Ben achieved 155mpg, Peugeot claims this vehicle will return upto 250mpg and if you're wondering the key to economy is to keep the PHEV charged, it offers 30 or so miles of EV range, it's a comfortable, spacious and versatile vehicle and it costs just over £32k.
Fancy something a touch quicker? then there is also a 4x4 PHEV too with run 0-60 in around 5s, this is still a respectable 8s or so.
