The new MG3 Hybrid for 2024 has set the stage to impress with its new sleek design, hybrid powertrain, and a host of technological advancements from the previous generation.

This next-generation MG3 model draws design inspiration from its upscale counterparts, including the MG Cyberster, featuring swept-back headlights and streamlined bodywork for a modern and sporty look. The interior has been revamped with contemporary touches, including a new large 10.25-inch infotainment system like we've already experienced in the MG4, a welcome edition - something that enhances versatility.

Under the bonnet, the Hybrid MG3 boasts a powertrain that works in an interesting way - the separate generator motor feeds energy to the 1.83kWh battery - or direct to the e-Motor if required.combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine (similar to the previous powertrain) and now coupling it with a 2.1kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor, delivering a total output of 130kW or around 190BHP, and delivers 250 Nm's of torque just from the electric motor. This is primarily helped by having a pure electric mode, which works for short periods. However, it does allow for up to 50MPH in EV mode.

With the electric motor producing 134BHP (considerably more than the engine) the MG3 can run extremely well just on the e-Motor, incuding acceleration and low end work - all before the engine kicks in.

This is not just an eco approach to the supermini for MG, it offers a greener alternative to traditional petrol engines whilst not breaking the bank with an EV setup, also if truth be told, a lot of people see more benefits in a hybrid system, especially with a pure electric mode. For the first time, the new MG3 has a three speed automatic transmission. Coupled with the petrol engine and the hybrid system, the MG3 is able to return up to 64MPG - 100G/KM CO2 emissions. The latest MG3 is what I'd call a practical choice for a wide range of buyers.

More than one hybrid? Well quite possibly...

Entry-level models are expected to feature a somewhat tamer 89kW 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, providing a balance of power and efficiency suitable for everyday driving.

The MG3 Hybrid emphasises design detail with features like pronounced door trim creases and diamond-patterned seats, indicating a keen attention to aesthetic and functional design elements. As expected, it does have an EV mode, regenerative braking capabilities, and other powertrain options, but  more on those later.

As you well know, the anticipation is mega high for the new MG3, especially as it's a supermini that has arguably some of the best steering I've ever expereienced, the latest MG3 promises to blend performance, efficiency, and style in an affordable package - it's a massively likable little car.

Is the 2024 MG3 Hybrid the most compelling option for those seeking a budget-friendly supermini without compromising on performance, safety, or tech amenities? Despite its advancements, NCAP we await... If it's above 3 I'm in, watch our for video coming later today.

Stepping into the spotlight this February 26th, the all-new MG3 has truly revved up the excitement in the automotive scene, folks! This isn't just any launch; it's a game-changing moment for MG, as they roll out their pioneering Hybrid+ technology. Yep, you heard it right – MG is pushing the pedal to the metal, driving the B-segment hatchback into a whole new era of efficiency and performance, with a sprinkle of that MG magic.

Now, for the first time ever, our friends across Europe are getting a taste of what has been a UK exclusive. But MG isn't just crossing borders; they're setting new standards in the segment. Imagine this: a beefier battery and a punchier electric motor under the hood, making zero-emission jaunts longer and greener. And the best part? MG's kept the thrill of driving at the heart of it all. The MG3 Hybrid+ promises to keep that 'fun-to-drive' flame burning bright.

Diving into the specs, MG's offering three trims right out of the gate, all juiced up with the Hybrid+ powertrain. This setup is a marvel, blending a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a robust 100kW electric motor, backed by a unique generator motor. The result? A symphony of driving modes tailored for every twist and turn of your journey.

But here's where it gets spicy – the MG3 Hybrid+ isn't just about saving pennies at the pump. It's the speed demon of its class, clocking a 0-100km/h sprint in a mere 8.0 seconds. And it does so without skimping on efficiency, boasting impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions, thanks to its hefty 1.83kWh battery.

Space-wise, the MG3 Hybrid+ is like a TARDIS – more roomy on the inside than you'd expect, all while keeping its city-friendly footprint. Inside, it's decked out with tech and comforts that punch way above its weight class, including a sleek dual-screen setup and a suite of connectivity and safety features that blur the line between standard and luxury.

And here's the cherry on top – MG's slapping a seven-year/150,000 km warranty on this bad boy, showing they're not just in it for the short haul. With its cutting-edge tech, zippy performance, and a cabin packed with goodies, the MG3 Hybrid+ is gunning for the top spot in the B-segment hatchback league. Folks, MG's not just changing the game; they're rewriting the rulebook.

The MG3 Hybrid+ showcases a hybrid powertrain that's more than just a step forward; it's a giant leap in automotive engineering. At its core, this system marries a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol engine with a dynamic 100kW electric motor, complemented by a separate generator. This isn't just any hybrid setup; it's MG's first foray into the conventional, non-plug-in hybrid arena, and they've made sure it's a memorable one.

The petrol engine itself is a marvel of efficiency, producing 75kW (102 PS) and a torque of 128Nm. Its high thermal efficiency of 41% is a testament to MG's commitment to reducing emissions and improving fuel consumption without sacrificing performance. The electric motor, on the other hand, adds a punchy 100kW (136 PS) and an impressive 250Nm of torque, bringing the combined output to a robust 143kW. This setup allows for a seamless blend of power, ensuring that the MG3 Hybrid+ delivers both exhilarating acceleration and responsible fuel usage.

When it comes to economy, the MG3 Hybrid+ is no slouch. Thanks to its advanced Hybrid+ system, it boasts an economy figure of 4.4l/100km and CO2 emissions of just 100g/km. The heart of this efficiency is the 1.83kWh battery, which not only supports a significant electric-only driving range but also enhances the overall fuel efficiency of the car. This level of economy is a clear indicator that MG has successfully balanced the need for speed with the demand for greener driving solutions.

MG has historically ensured that their vehicles deliver a 'fun-to-drive' experience, and the MG3 Hybrid+ is no exception. The car's handling characteristics are a testament to MG's engineering prowess, offering a ride that's both agile and comfortable. The vehicle benefits from an advanced suspension system and ultra-high stiffness components in the chassis, which work together to provide athletic handling and a smooth ride.

Moreover, the compact proportions and responsive powertrain of the MG3 Hybrid+ make it an ideal companion for both winding country roads and bustling city streets. The vehicle's dynamic driving experience is further enhanced by the ability to switch between different driving modes, including Eco, Standard, and Sport, allowing drivers to tailor the car's responsiveness to their preference or driving conditions.

In conclusion, the all-new MG3 Hybrid+ stands as a remarkable achievement in the B-segment hatchback class. Its powertrain offers an exhilarating yet efficient driving experience, its economy figures set new standards for hybrids, and its handling ensures that the joy of driving remains front and center. This combination of performance, efficiency, and driving pleasure makes the MG3 Hybrid+ a compelling choice for those looking to embrace the future of driving.

For the most accurate and up-to-date pricing information, it's best to check with MG's official website or contact local MG dealerships in your area. They can provide detailed pricing for the various trim levels of the MG3 Hybrid+ available in your region, as well as any ongoing promotions or finance options.

The previous models of the MG3 were known for offering good value, balancing features and affordability. Given the introduction of advanced hybrid technology, which includes a more powerful electric motor, a larger battery, and enhanced equipment levels, it's reasonable to expect a price increase compared to the outgoing non-hybrid models.

In the European market, B-segment hatchbacks with hybrid technology typically range in price depending on the brand, technology, and features offered. Considering MG's value-oriented positioning and the premium features mentioned, such as MG Pilot safety systems, a twin-screen cockpit, and the inclusion of a seven-year warranty, the MG3 Hybrid+ could be priced competitively within this segment.

A ballpark figure for the MG3 Hybrid+ could place it in the mid to higher range of the B-segment market, possibly starting around €20,000 to €25,000 for the base model in Europe. This estimate accounts for the added value of hybrid technology and the comprehensive equipment list. Keep in mind, actual prices could vary based on market specifics, taxes, and additional options or packages.

For the most accurate and official pricing, I recommend staying tuned to MG's announcements or visiting a local dealership as the launch date approaches.

This is a brief look, more to come as we know it.
